T-80U is a new generation Russian tank, that possesses enhanced invincibility, fire power, unique maneuverability and speed characteristics.
Tank ensures the first round hit probability at the distance up to 5 000 m. It is agile and barely visible on any terrain. The tank is capable of negotiating long distances and can be carried by all kinds of transport facilities. Tank protection ensures crew survival in any extreme conditions on the battle field.
The tank embodies advanced design concepts and expertise of the Russian tank industry.
T-80U tank main armament is a 125 mm 2A46M - 1 smoothbore gun. The gun is stabilized in two planes and fed with a mechanical carousel loader carrying ready to use rounds and 9M119 laser guided missiles.

Automatic loader allows for a rate of fire from 7 up to 9 rounds/ min. at tank velocity up to 30 km/h at any turret position. Automatic loader carries 28 rounds. Depending on the conditions of the forthcoming battle the tank commander himself determines the composition of the ammunition allowance in the automatic loader.
High accuracy of fire is gained through the use of the computerized fire control system comprising:
Target hitting precision is increased due to the use of gun barrel thermal sleeves and built - in gunner' sight adjustment control device.
Pointing, aiming and targets hitting in the process of the battle is conducted by the gunner. The commander observing the battle field has an opportunity to determine the most dangerous target, to aim independently from the gunner and pressing the button "ÖÅËÅÓÊÀÇÀÍÈÅ" ( "TARGET DESTINATION") on the control panel, to swing the turret around and align gunner's sighting line with the target or completely take the gun control into his own hands (mode "ÄÓÁËÜ" / DUPLICATION) and hit the target.
Guided armor complex ensures virtually 100% hit probability of destroying armored or low - flying target with the laser guided missiles at a distance up to 5 km what was repeatedly proved on the tests and international exhibitions of armament and military equipment.
Multi-fuel 1250 hp (919 kW) GTD-1250 gas-turbine engine ensures 27.2 hp/t power-to-weight ratio. This characteristic considerably exceeds similar parameters of both Russian and foreign tanks and conditions high tank maneuverability and agility. Considerably bigger than diesel engines' torque reserve excludes the possibility of engine shut down at overload and decreases the mount of gear shifts while moving on the cross-country terrain.
High dynamic and starting characteristics ensure fast departure from the fire zone. It takes only 17 to 9 sec. for the tank to pick up the speed of 50 km / h from the spot, when 3-5 m "jump from the start" can be conducted in 1-2 sec. what allows to ricochet the flying projectile. Combat actions' experience shows that some tanks managed to withstand up to 5 projectiles and missiles hits and still continued fulfilling their combat mission.
Side planetary power transmission and running gear original suspension ensure smooth riding.
Auxiliary gas-turbine power pack GTA-18 power 18 kW ensures all tank complexes and systems working at halt while the main engine is shut down.
While conducting the battle in defense the usage of auxiliary power pack considerably decreases the infrared radiation level what in turn to a great extent decreases the probability of tank detection with the thermal - imaging sights.
Fuel consumption, evaluated while carrying out the combat action (con-centration in the attack area, breach in the enemy defense, march and combat in defense) is considerably lower than it is on the tanks equipped with the tradi-tional diesel engines without an auxiliary power pack.

The mine sweeper attached to the tank excludes the possibility of mine explosion under the tank bottom and tracks. For the increase of anti-mine resistance the seat of the mechanic driver is installed on the beam attached to the hull sides and the hull stiffness in the area of the driving compartment is reinforced by the pillars.

At customer's request on T-80U tank export variants might be installed air conditioner that ensures not only air temperature decrease but also its de-humidification what is especially essential in the countries with the hot humid climate. Besides auxiliary power pack GTA-18 allows to turn the air condi-tioner on at halt without having to start the main engine.
