T-80UK tank is T-80U tank modification. Tank is designed to conduct combat actions within infantry units and subunits and to provide adaptable unit command and control functions during the combat actions both day and night.
T-80UK main performance data in general do not distinguish from those of the base T-80U tank. Its power plant, transmission, running gear, armament, vision equipment, armor protection, roller mine sweeper attachment are identical in design to those of the T-80U tank.
Additional equipment of the T-80UK tank provides for carrying out command and control functions includes:
HF radio set is intended to provide for radio communication in the field of command in the frequencies band of 2-30 MHz, at the halt and on the move. The radio set provides for two-way telephone and telegraph communication, auditory and automatic reception of tone calls signals, reception for rotary an-tenna of 4-m high to a range of 50 km. The number of preset frequencies is -16. The design of HF antenna rod support allows to install it in inclined posi-tion. Such a position of the antenna makes it the antenna of "anti - aircraft radiation". The employment of the antenna of "anti-aircraft radiation" is effi-cient in arranging communication in mountain area. Mounted on 11-m mast antenna "symmetric vibrator" in the range of 2-18 MHz provides for range of communication of 350 km. The radio set also provides for the modes: tow frequencies simplex, stand-by reception with scanning on recorded frequencies, reception and transmission of address call, reception and transmission of codes.
The electric unit is an auxiliary generating set with a drive from carburetor engine. The electric unit is intended to supply power for users with total capacity up to 1 kW: communication facilities, fire fighting equipment, storage batter-ies charging etc. at halt when the main engine or gas turbine unit does not oper-ate with the purpose of saving fuel.
The tank navigation equipment is intended to determine the location of the tank or unit on the ground, the direction of movement, the distance to the given point of destination. The equipment consists of gyroscope indicator, control panel, co - ordinator, carried out (indicating) plotting board for topographic map. The equipment provides for determination of the tank coordinates with high accuracy taking into account the passed way without reorienting, solves the following tasks:
Thermal-imaging sight "Agava-2", that allows to conduct target detec-tion and destruction at a distance up to 2.300 m at target contrast range not less than 1 degree, is installed on the T-80UK tank instead of gunner's night opto -electronic sight.
Commander's additional screen allows him to observe the battle field and if there is a necessity to undertake fire control. "Agava-2" complex allows both gunner and commander to conduct guided missile firing at night.
Tests conducted at foreign customers confirmed the reliability and ther-mal-imaging device failure-free performance in the extreme conditions of des-ert.
For the sake of increase T-80UK invulnerability it is additionally equipped with opto - electronic jamming complex "Shtora-I". Complex "Shtora-1" is designed to detect enemy laser emission, to lay smoke and aerosol screens, to emit modulated light that disorients enemy guided missiles.
Complex works both in automatic and semi-automatic mode. In automatic mode at tank illumination with the laser rangefinder while enemy is aiming, audible signaling operates for the crew, turret turns in the direction of illumination and one or two smoke grenades are being shot what allows to leave in good time zone of aiming firing and defeat the enemy. Complex headlights simultaneously illuminate modulated light which is a countermeasure against the anti-tank guided missiles control system.
Complex "Shtora-1" allows to decrease the possibility of tank destruction by the anti-tank guided missiles of different types in 1.5-3.5 times.
